Calamagrostis - Small Reed

Calamagrostis is a group of upright tall grasses which flower in summer. After that the clumps turn golden brown and stay attractive into the winter. Calamagrostis likes a spot in the sun, in dry to normal, not too fertile soil. Not enough sun or too much fertilizer will make for weak, arching plants. Calamagrostis looks great planted as a solitary plant. Why not plant a group of 3 or 5 plants in the flower border to create a vertical accent next to Monarda, Echinacea, Aster, Agastache and Solidago.
